Bubble Wrap

Bubble Wrap

Bubble wrap was invented by two men named Chavannes and Fielding for the purpose of 3D wallpapers. Although the enterprise was not successful, it was discovered that the air-filled bubbles were perfect for protecting fragile items within packaging.
The material is a pliable transparent plastic with air bubbles evenly spread across a sheet. This ensures that the item is consistently cushioned on all sides to ensure minimum chances of damage during transport.
The size of bubbles on the sheets can be manufactured differently to cater to the size and context of the item being protected. In some cases, it is suggested that multiple layers should be wrapped around the item to guarantee vibration and shock absorption.
Typically, the bubble wrap sheets are produced with polyethylene films. A flat film is used as the basis of the sheet and a shaped film is then placed on top of the flat film to create the bubbles.
Aside from being a packaging material, many people buy bubble wrap for the amusement purposes. It is quite fun to pop each bubble and many find the process to have therapeutic properties and can calm stressed nerves.
